SS1

This project scared me much to begin with. I am not familiar with Excel at all but after studying the assignment I decided to give it my best shot. I struggled with the formulas but once I figured out that I needed to put the column number and letter in the cell it wasn't that bad. I searched the web help to figure out how to do the 45 degree on the titles and filling the cell 3 black.

After uploading the spreadsheet to google docs it was easy to cut, copy and paste the columns in the correct order to make the chart which was also easy. The whole google documents was very user friendly and I didn't realize that things such as graphs could be created that easy from a spreadsheet. Good experience. I just HOPE I did everything correctly.

Visual Ranking Tool (Group Project)

We decided to do our project on a reading story that she was teaching her second graders. It worked out well for me also because I teach a K-3 mentally impaired classroom and I can use this lesson and ranking tool as well. I thought it was pretty neat to be able to go online and make assignments and lessons for our students to complete online. This project also allowed us to use google sites again and learn more about it.

My partner for this project was Mollie Toppe. We worked really good together and I actually hate group projects especially ones where you have to communicate to each other via email, but Mollie made it pretty easy. The project was equally divided and we both discussed what we thought of each part and shared our opinions. I am glad she was my partner! Thanks Mollie!

Photoshop Express

This was really neat and fun! There were so many things you could do with photoshop. I was able to upload my pictures and decide what transition I wanted and choose audio to go along with my slide show. I didn't bother with downloading my own song, but I just used what the program already had. My pictures go in a circular motion...it was my favorite transition. After I made my album, I save it in my gallery and was then able to use my photoshop address to link it to my blog. Hope you enjoy my album!

Web Album

I never knew it was this easy to upload photos online. Picasa is a great tool to use when you do this. I downloaded picasa 3, chose which photos on my computer to upload, and them uploaded them as a web album. After they were uploaded I was able to add captions. There were other things you could do with Picasa such as crop, adjust the brightness of you picture, transition the pictures and much more! This is a very efficient way to share images and I see myself using this tool in the future to upload my pictures!

Online Graph 2

My graph is organized by the lower state per capita income to the highest state. I thought this was a very interesting graph to do because I had no idea that the results were going to be as they are. My graph shows that WV has the second to lowest per capita income, yet has the lowest amount of students on an IEP. I found that the state with the least money is not always the state that has the most students on an IEP. As my graph shows, there is a big jump from Utah to Kentucky. Kentucky has the most money on my chart and also has an abundance of students on an IEP. The results of this assignment and my graph show that even though some states are poorer than other, the students on an IEP appear to be lower, with the exception of Mississippi that is the poorest state and has more students on an IEP than West Virginia, Arkansas, and Utah.

Online Graph 1

This chart was interesting to see the difference between the NAEP scores of fourth grade students and the national average. Even though it is disappointing that WV is still behind the national average I feel that we are consistently close to the average. Our biggest gap was in 2005 with a difference of six. We were closest to the national average in 2000 by a difference of only one point. If we keep building from our scores in 2007, hopefully we can be close to the national average and possibly even tie or exceed the average.
I have never used kids zone before, but this graph was so easy to create! I will definitely use this in the future for making my own graph or even having my students create graphs. Aftering entering all the information to make my graph, I made my graph to a JPEG file and saved it to my image formats folder on my desktop, then embedded it into my blog. Pretty neat, check it out.

This assignment was pretty simple. I discovered a lot of details about images that I didn't know. View my: Spreadsheet and Narrative.

Reading Quiz

This article was very difficult to understand. I feel that I answered the questions as best as I could. Here is my reading quiz.

Screen Grabber

I searched the internet for a country scence. I love country scenes and my house is decorated and located in the country. Once I found my image, I used the print screen button and then pasted my image into paint. I then used paint to copy just this picture and not the rest of the web page then opened a new paint screen and pasted just the picture. I added text and saved my image as a 24-bmp Bitmap. My picture is 503 KB and 451 X 380 pixels, with a 24 bit depth.

I could use print screen in a variety of ways in my class. A lot of times I want to save images from the internet for my class to view later and not all images can be copied and pasted. Using print screen I can retrieve the image, save it and view later.

Graphics from Scratch

I wasn't sure whether to do this assignment since it wasn't on the activities sheet but I went ahead with it since I had seen some others in the class had. The assignment was pretty easy and didn't take long. I used paint to create my portrait. I used spray paint for my hair, curved line for my mouth, brush for my nose and pencil for my eyes, using only five lines. Then then saved my image as a 24-bit bitmap and uploaded it to my FTP. Here is the link to my self portrait.

Module Two Reflection

Thank goodness! That was a very time consuming module! I feel very good about all the presentations that I was able to create and I know they will be useful in my career. For more about module two-presentations, read my reflection!

Jeopardy

Wow! This is so neat! My jeopardy is a money review on a first grade level. I think students will be really into a review of this type. It was hard to figure out, however it was a little time consuming. I think it was worth it though. I have put together jeopardy lesson before on the board and actually it takes no longer than a hand made jeopardy game. Very useful and I think I will use this a lot!

Photo Story Lesson Plan

Oh, this is neat. I never knew you could do this, but this is an excellent way to teach lessons and I thought about even uploading it to my website for some of my parents! This way they can see what we are doing in class and can help them at home. Hope you like it!
